Genesis to the Rock and Roll hall of fame and Burger Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Cow

Today Genesis will be inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, formed in 1967 by Tony Banks and Peter Gabriel the band is one of the top 30 highest selling recording artists of all time. You can say Genesis had two distinctive eras, the classic one when they were lead by Peter Gabriel, characterized by epic songs such as Supper’s Ready, and The Musical Box. And conceptual records such as The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Foxtrot, and Selling England by the pound. The second era is when they reached popularity under Phil Collins’ leadership. This is characterized by albums such as Abacab, Duke, Genesis, and Invisible Touch having songs in the top of the charts like That’s all, Land of confusion, Home by the sea, and Turn it on again.

The band is also recognized to be pioneers in the use of lasers and special effects on their shows, also during the Gabriel’s era the shows were more theatrical, having Peter Gabriel disguised in different costumes during the show.

There have been rumours of a reunion of the original line up (Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Phil Collins, and Steve Hackett), but nothing has been confirmed yet, and with Phil Collins wrist and back problems it looks very unlikely in the future. I had the opportunity of watched them perform in the Madison Square Garden in 2007 for the Turn it on again tour, it’s one of the best concert I have been, excellent effects, and an amazing repertoire that included Home by the sea, Ripples, and the Carpet Crawlers.

And then there were three

My third stop in the hunt for the best burger was The Bountiful Cow. A not so small venue in Holborn (51 Eagle Street, WC1R 4AP), they describe themselves as a public house devoted to beef. The place has warm atmosphere, good service, and is full of posters and pictures of cows and beef related topics. It was recommended by my friends Dave and Lowri during a cheese tasting event we had, I was telling them about my idea to look for the best burger here in London and they immediately suggested the place, they warned me that the burger was quite big.

The Bountiful Cow "a public house devoted to beef"

Taylor joined me this time, as he usually says “I’m always up for a burger” so as you can imagine I didn’t have to work hard to convince him. Got to the place ordered a couple pints and the burgers, there is only one option, a beef burger called the “Bountyburger” (what a name, isn't just like the Boba Fett of burgers, I was definitely waiting for the most deadliest burger in the galaxy) you can add melted cheddar, bacon or egg. We both ordered with melted cheddar and bacon, the fries are included.

The burger was huge! Really big, the menu has a quote after the name of the burger “quite large". I remembered the Seinfeld episode “The Van Buren Boys” where George is telling Jerry about the Susan Ross Scholarship candidates.

George: Hey, I think I may have found someone for the scholarship.
Jerry: Yeah?
George: I'm interviewing all these annoying little overachievers. Finally, this kid walks in Steven Koren a regular guy, likes sports, watches T.V.
Jerry: Is he smart?
George: He knows how to read. And he also knows finishing an entire book doesn't prove anything. And get this: he's into architecture.
Jerry: Hey! Just like you pretend to be.
George: Yes. With a little guidance, Steven Koren is going to be everything I claim to be, only for real. That's my dream, Jerry.
Jerry: I had a dream last night that a hamburger was eating me

So I thought for a moment after eating 14 oz of beef I was going to have nightmares about cows hunting me or even a burger eating me.

The verdict, good burger, good taste, huge size, but limited options, the chips are included, they were fat and crunchy with excellent taste.

The damage, 16 pounds for the burger, chips, and a pint.

Conclusion, definitely not the best burger but I have to say The Bountiful Cow got the title of the Biggest Burger I’ve ever had, I will give them a 6.5, the lack of options to go with my burger was my main issue, but if you like a clean nice taste of cheddar and bacon with your beef, this is the place to go, be sure you will definitely receive value, good service and SIZE for your money.

Finally, another thing that caught my attention was the “Almost free lunch” from Monday to Saturday (noon to 3:30 p.m.), my parents always told me that there’s no such thing as a free lunch but an almost free is a one to look for.

Ho was the bun?
You know I'm obsessed with the bun...

The bun was plain, nothing fancy like sesame seeds or anything like that, it was toasted, and the size was perfect for the patty.
