    About Time for a Chinese

New vanguard Asian in Chicago

A colleague recommended going to Sunda while in Chicago. The place has received excellent reviews, not surprisingly when the menu is on charge of celebrity chef Rodelio Aglibot. The place brings Eastern and Southeast Asian cuisine with a simple but tasty approach to the Chicagoan.

Best way is to go on a group and share dishes because there are so many options, we tryied the ultimate handroll (crab, shrimp tempura, salmon, spicy tuna, dynamite), oxtail pot stickers (braised oxtail, caramelized onion jus, and white wasabi cream), toast and jam (crispy shrimp toast and spicy tuna jam), the food buddha’s classic crispy rice pan fried sushi rice glazed with soy sauce and topped with kobe beef tartare, loompya (crispy pork and shrimp Shanghai style egg rolls), Southeastern chop chop chicken (shredded chicken breast, chopped greens, napa, mango, and peanut jalapeno dressing), longevity garlic noodles, and steamed bao buns with roasted duck breast.

The food is brilliant, and the whole experience was excellent, the service was quick and good, even thought the place was completely packed, I fully recommend it.

Asian food reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Chinese Woman”.

Elaine: She's not Chinese?
Jerry: No. Not Chinese. Not even Asian.
Elaine: So, What is she?
Jerry: Well, she's like you.
Elaine: Oh, how disappointed you must have been.
Jerry: Well, it's false advertising, see? And the thing is, I think she likes people thinkin' she's Chinese. She suggests Chinese food. She always introduces herself as "Donna Chang"...
Elaine: So why're you seeing her again.
Jerry: Well, she is a woman.
