I'm not too familiar with Easter traditions this side of the pond and less in Australia, so I have to admit I just recently found out about Hot Cross Buns. These sweet buns with raisins are enjoyed toasted with butter.

Thanks to Broadsheet I found a list of the best bakeries in Melbourne to try these sweet treats, one of the places was Phillippa's best of all it is relatively close to the office. According to the article, these are the Rolls Royce of the buns you can find, old production baking style, golden top, shiny glaze, citrus tang, made with 6 different spices, candied orange peel, and lots of fruits.

The flavour is quite nice, great flavour, the dried fruits quite nice, love the toasted touch, filled with melted butter, a nice guilty pleasure.

The Bakery is lovely, I couldn't resist to try also a sandwich, if you’re wondering I ate the sandwich first. Nice variety for lunch, got a roast beef with salsa verde, courgette, and watercress. Pretty nice one. Coffee is also good and the chocolate truffles are awesome, dark bitter chocolate perfect to go with a cappuccino.

If you’re nearby of any of their four locations I would recommend a pit stop to have a treat.
All these buns reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Muffin Tops” when Elaine doesn't know what to do with all the muffin stumps from their new business venture.
Mr. Lippman: What is this guy again?
Elaine: They call him a Cleaner. He makes problems go away
Newman: Hello Elaine. Where are they?
Elaine: In the back
Newman: All right, I'm going to need a clean 8 ounce glass
Mr. Lippman: What is going on here?
Newman: If I'm curt, then I apologize. But as I understand it, we have a situation here and time is of the essence
