The Coffee Inquiry Episode II: Nude Espresso

Probably one of the first independent coffee places I visited was Nude Espresso, Kiwi roots, two locations, one micro roaster, objective is simple, quality, respect the bean, and provide a relax, casual, fun atmosphere were the punters or coffee hunters can relax and enjoy their drink. A more complete menu for a coffee shop, toast, eggs, omelettes, sandwiches, even burgers, some pastries, brownies, and similar sweet treats.

But let's talk about the coffee, they source the beans around the world, roasting them in small batches of 15 kg, single bean roasting, tasting, blending, aged 7 to 10 days to de-gas and let the flavour to develop, pure art. I visited the Soho location, bigger than the one in Brick Lane, got a macchiato, nice, creamy, good flavours from the coffee, not too strong, a bit of chocolate notes, some bitterness, good balance, obviously they use their blend which they call east espresso blend, with a bit of latte art going on. You can also buy the cascara, sadly this time no tea, and their coffee blend.

Excellent coffee, I only can say to you get nude, they are almost vertically integrated as they source, roast, and finally serve the product to the costumers, definitely visiting their roastery as it is open to the public.

Nude reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Contest”

Kramer: Hey, look at this, come here, there's a naked woman across the street
Jerry: Where?
Kramer: Second floor from the top, see the window on the left?
George: Wow!
Jerry: Who walks around the house like that?
George: Maybe she's a nudist, you know, those nudist colony people
Kramer: Yeah, yeah
Jerry: Hey, let me ask you a question, in these nudist colonies, do they eat naked in the dining room?
George: I would imagine it's all naked
Jerry: What about the chamber maids? Are they naked, too?
George: They're naked, the gardeners naked, the bellhops, One big nude-a-rama
