The New Spanish Lady on Clapham

The other day I decided to go for brunch in Clapham. After reviewing all the options Bistro Delicat was my choice, but I got a big surprise when realised they were anymore there, instead Rosita took over the place. The Spanish tapas and sherry bar just open for business on November 6, a little sister of Lola Rojo which is a few blocks away. New menu recreating Madrid tapas scene, a Jasper oven, and a great Sherry selection.

Hams hanging in the bar
We got for a bit after 12 and breakfast wasn’t available at that time. A bit disappointment but on the other hand we were lucky as we discovered a special Sunday tapas “Roast” menu.

Roast menu
To start the feast some olives and chargrilled bread with olives. Moving on, tuna tartare which was good, and duck egg and sprouts which took my heart, delicate and nice flavours.

Then a chicory salad, blue cheese, nuts, and orange dressing. Light and nice. Their interpretation of patatas bravas, not too angry as the sauce was quite mild and not spicy enough, also the potatoes were a bit underdone and tough inside. Chorizo and haricot tortilla was well executed. The ham croquet, nice flavours, traditional approach.

Finally, the charcoal grill selection. Organic chicken, chorizo Iberico, lamb cutlet, and filet mignon with mash, Piquillo peppers, horseradish, and BĂ©arnaise sauce. Great flavours, the meats were perfectly cooked, the spicy juicy chorizo, great seasoning on the lamb and filet, and the chicken spot on.

Grill selection
Great meal, excellent price, great value, and nice atmosphere. The only thing I can criticise is the fact that we ordered twice an Iberico ham and we never got it. I think the table beside ours got our order, but apart from that it was a lovely lunch.

Rosita reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Fire”

Ronnie: I heard you went down to somebody's office and heckled them?
Jerry: Damn right! We've been lapdogs long enough!
Ronnie: How could you do that? I mean, everybody's talking about it
Jerry: Yeah well, it's about time one of us drew a line in the sand
Ronnie: Jerry, you're like Rosa Parks. You opened the door for all of us. I can't wait till the next time someone heckles me
Jerry: Yeah, well, it won't be long
