Burger Wars Episode LXI: The Electric Burger [BurgeReview]

I read about Electric Diner and couldn't resist reviewing their burger. The place is besides one of London’s oldest cinemas, full of character, open till late, French and American menu created by chef Brendan Sodikoff. The Chicago chef associated this time with the Soho House group yes the same one of Pizza East. Loud music, crimson red diner boots, dimmed lights, if you want to see the action of the chefs and line cooks sit at the long bar, and a great music selection played at a reel to reel machine.

Got to the place and I already knew what I wanted the bologna sandwich and the double burger, so Marisol and I shared that and added avocado on toast with poached egg. The avocado on toast with poached egg was really nice, the egg perfectly cooked, runny yolk, a bit of acidity drizzling lemon, and slightly spicy scent.

Avocado eggs on toast
The bologna sandwich is the landmark of the place, fried housemade bologna thinly sliced, brioche bun, and a special sauce. The fried bologna creates a crispy texture on the borders but keeps the meatiness that is fantastic, layers and layers of bologna creating a tower of flavour. One of the best sandwiched in London for sure.

The burger a double cheeseburger and we added egg and bacon. You need to order the fries as a side.

The verdict, it was amazing, I have to say they have a math issue there, the double has three patties and the single two so enjoy the extra flavour of the juices. Monterrey Jack melted cheese dripping all over the place, the bacon was meaty and had an outstanding flavour, and apparently they slow cooked it to develop more flavour. A house made mayo, sliced gherkins on top, fresh chives, all in a brioche bun toasted. Just writing and describing I'm hungry again.

The damage, 17 quid for the burger and the side fries.

The conclusion, great burger, amazing flavours, well executed, messy, good balance, definitely top in town. Fries were nice but not great as the burger and the bologna sandwich. I will give them a solid 9 in my scale, almost a perfect score.

Half burger half bologna
Outstanding place, the music is amazing, the bologna sandwich superb, and the burger juicy, messy, and extremely good.

Electric reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Dealership”

George: When are they going to have the flying cars, already?
Jerry: Yeah, they have been promising that for a while
George: Years. When we were kids, they made it seem like it was right around the corner
Jerry: I think Ed Begley Jr. has one
George: No. That's just electric
Jerry: What about Harrison Ford? He had one in, uh, Blade Runner. That was a cool one
George: What's the competition, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
Jerry: Well, what do you think the big holdup is?
George: The government is very touchy about us being in the air. Let us run around on the ground as much as we want. Anything in the air is a big production
Jerry: Yeah, right. And what about the floating cities?
George: And the underwater bubble cities?
Jerry: It's like we're living in the 50s here
