    About Time for a Chinese

The Quietness of Hell’s Kitchen

Who doesn't know about Gordon Ramsay’s show Hell’s Kitchen? I've been obsessed to try the Beef Wellington and with eleven restaurants in London the odds were in my favour. The place Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's, opulent, impressive, refined, luxurious, and elegant.

Gordon
Got to the place, the service was spot on, huge old school baroque style dining room. Wine list in an iPad a bit too modern for the traditional and classic cut of the restaurant.

The dining
Immediately we got greetings from the kitchen, two amuse bouche, hash brown with truffle cream and a parmesan cheese tart. Both nice, a good start for a memorable night.

First greetings
We finally order our food and a bottle of rose wine, surprisingly more greetings from the chef, we got a cauliflower soup with basil oil and mushrooms, it was great, nice balance, the touch of the basil was lovely.

Second greetings
For starters I went for the lobster ravioli, shellfish and salmon with lemongrass and chervil velouté. Marisol got the risotto with winter black truffle and aged parmesan. The ravioli was amazing, full of flavour, the pasta was al dente, the velouté was depth. Risotto was delicate and great flavour, the truffle and parmesan it's a winning combination for sure.

For main you know what we got, the beef Wellington, carved in our table, it was superb. Perfectly cooked the meat was medium rare, the pastry cover was crunchy, it was amazing.

Ready to be cut
Outstanding
Then we got a palate cleanser compliments of the kitchen, a passion fruit jelly, lemon, and coconut sorbet. Fresh really nice. We love it so much we got for dessert the selection of sorbets, and the Pistachio parfait, limoncello jelly, lemon cream, chocolate and hazelnut doughnuts.

A memorable diner, service was great, even though at the end of the night it got a bit slower. Apart from that it was lovely, the food was amazing, the Wellington was legen… wait for it… dary. Great evening, the only thing missing was Gordon screaming this is RAW! And just before leaving we got some chocolates and marshmallows.

Final greetings
Ravioli reminds me the Seinfeld episode "The Fusilli Jerry"

Kramer: Here you go, buddy
Jerry: What is it?
Kramer: Fusilli Jerry! It's made from Fusilli pasta. See the microphone?
Jerry: When did you do this?
Kramer: In my spare time. You know, I'm working on one of you, George. I'm using ravioli. See, the hard part is to find a pasta that captures the individual
Jerry: Oh... Why Fusilli?
Kramer: Because you're silly. Get it?
