America’s First Pizzeria

In1905 Lombardi’s was licensed in New York and became the first pizzeria in America. I couldn’t resist the temtation of trying that New York style pizza. They are proud to say that is the best pizza in the Big Apple and one of the tops in the country, best ingredients, coal fired oven, and even Zagat reviewers said is the best on the planet, 3 Lombardi’s generations, or as they say “We started it all and still on top after 100 years”.

The Place

I went with a colleague, we had a large pizza, with pepperoni, mushrooms, and black olives. The pizza is made with fresh mozzarella, San Marzano tomato sauce, and topped with romano and fresh basil.

New York Style Pizza

Amazing, Simply superb, the flavour is really good, even more if you like this thin hand tossed crust of the New York style, but apparently the secret lies with the minerals present in the water from the area.

When eating hand tossed pizzas you should be careful not to go to Poppie, from the Seinfeld episode “The Pie” where he doesn’t clean his hands after using the bathroom.

Audrey: What do they want from Poppie?
Jerry: Well, Poppie's a little sloppy.
