Street Food: New York Gyros

One of the typical characteristic of any big city is their street food, it can go from hot dogs to kebabs, tacos, shawarmas, burgers or even pizza food carts. New York is no exception, and their addition to this urban fast food cheap metropolis cuisine is the Gyros. Greek Pita bread rolls usually filled with lamb, chicken, or any other meat, tomato, onion, and tzatziki sauce can be found in any corner in Manhattan.

Kwik Meal Food Cart

I went to Kwik Meal on 45th Street with 6th avenue, and ordered a lamb gyro. The good thing about this place is they use marinated lamb meat pieces grilled instead of sliced from a rottisserie, which gives a better flavour and texture.

The gyro was superb, excellent flavour, so if you’re around the city that never sleeps pass by Mr Rahman steet car and judge by yourself, I highly recommended.

Gyro takes Manhattan

To get one of NYC best gyros you won’t need to go to Queensboro Plaza subaway stop like in the Seinfeld episode “The Cigar Store Indian”.

Jerry: I don't know why we didn't think of this before. We just could call TV Guide.
Elaine: I dunno.
Jerry: Well, it's gonna make Mr Costanza very happy.
Elaine: I guess.
Jerry: What's the matter?
Elaine: What d'you think is the matter? I've been assigned to work on Kramer's coffee table book.
Jerry: It is a good idea, Elaine.
Tannoy: Next stop, Queensboro Plaza.
Jerry: You want a gyro?
Elaine: I don't think so.
