I decided to give an exemption and return to Byron to try their special burger the Big D. It wasn’t on my plan but is a completely different burger so they deserve to be ranked separately. I missed it last year, so this year wasn’t going to let it happen again.
The burger is 8oz bigger than the regular 6oz that they usually serve at their restaurants. The patty is made by O'Shea's butcher using Scottish chuck from Perthshire, simply grilled and served with lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle, and mayo. Finally is only served in the month of february, so after March 1st you will have to wait another year.
I ordered mine medium rare with blue cheese, onion rings to see if they improve in the fried area, and a beer.
The verdict, unbelievable, the flavour is amazing, smoky, and tasty, and it was cooked to perfection, I wouldn’t complaint if they put more cheese to be honest, little bit scarce in my opinion.
The damage, 17 pounds for the burger, onion rings, and a beer
The conclusion, excellent burger, I still don’t understand how Byron could have that amazing burger in their menu all year, and they decided to have it only 1 month. I think I need to use over the owner a Jedi mind trick “This is the burger you need on the menu all year”. Anyway, that burger alone deserves a 9, still the onion rings were saggy and oily.
A butcher reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Stock Tip”.
George: Wilkinson's got a bite on a new one. Petramco Corp. Out of, hu, Springfield . I think. They're about to introduce some sort of robot butcher.
Jerry: A robot butcher?
George: Shhhhh. If you want to get in, there's very little time.
