Between Embankment and Charing Cross station you can find Lupita, a Mexican restaurant an according to them the first truly authentic in London . The restaurant is the sister from Mexico City ’s El Farolito with more than 45 years of experience.
So the last weekend I had the chance of coming back home and met my friends Roberto and Laura in the place to catch up and drink margaritas. As good latin americans we decided to share all dishes, first the starters we went for some Nachos Lupita which is basically guacamole, black beans and strips of beef, excelent option, the beef gives an amazing twist to the traditional nachos. Then we went for a Chicharron de Queso y Guacamole, a crispy rolled cheese serve with guacamole, quite good if you like grilled cheese.
Then the mains, we got the quesadilla Flor de Calabaza wich comes with potato, flor de calabaza and mushrooms. Tacos Gobernador (fresh shrimps, cheese, and a secret chipotle sauce) and Pollo Marinado a la Borrachera (char grilled chicken marinated in beer, yes beer… with chiles and spicy Mexican herbs). To complete Costras, soft flour tortillas topped with crispy cheese and arrachera steak. I can sumarise for all of them, just great, amazing flavour.
For dessert, we got the Flan and Zapata, both quite good even though I don’t have a sweet tooth. Mexican beers and special margaritas can join your meal. In conclusion good place, excellent food, and afordable prices.
Elaine: It was unbelievable. Six weeks of traveling through Mexico all on Peterman's peso.
Jerry: Wow. So did you get any good ideas for the catalog?
Elaine: Oh, tons!
Jerry: Anything you couldn't have gotten tearing open a bag of Doritos and watching Viva Zapata?
Elaine: You don't respect my work at all, do you?
Jerry: No, I don't.
