Escaping the Royal Wedding I: Dancing with the Moonlit Knight at Windsor and Eaton

I decided to escape London and avoid the Royal Wedding, so I rented a car and took a road trip around west UK, my first stop was Windsor Castle. Yeap the medieval castle and residence of the Royal Family, quite appropriate escaping the wedding but going to see a Royal residence.

The Castle and Queen Victoria Statue

The town is kind of cozy, a nice bank alongside the Thames, small independent stores and pubs, and the usual chains to give enough comfort for the visit. Easy to reach by train from central London and the Central train station is a nice shopping mall. Probably other attractions in the city centre besides the huge Castle are the Guildhall, the Crooked House, Alexandra gardens, Home Park, and the Long Walk.

Alexandra Gardens

The castle is breathtaking, unbelievable, it’s worth the visit, St George’s Chapel is beautiful, lovely architecture, nice views from the North Terrace, and impacting experience in the State Apartments, the Drawing Gallery and of course the Queen Mary’s Dolls’ house.

St George's Chapel

All this royal residence reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Contest”.

Elaine: John F. Kennedy Junior!
Jerry: What?
Elaine: He was in my aerobics class.
Jerry: Really? Did you talk to him?
Elaine: No, you don't understand - he was working out right in front of me. So, listen, after the class was over, I timed my walk to the door so we'd get there at the exact same moment, and he says to me, "Quite a workout."
George: "Quite a workout"? What did you say?
Elaine: I said, "yeah."
Jerry: Good one.
Elaine: So then, listen, listen. So then, I showered and I dressed, and I saw him again, on the way out. So we're walking and talking, and he asked me my name, and I think I said Elaine but, I mean, who the hell knows. And so then, he says to me: "Do you wanna split a cab uptown?" And I said, "Sure" even though I was going downtown. So, we get in the cab, and I mean, I have no idea where I'm going, right? But this is John F. Kennedy Junior, we're talking about! So, then, he says to me, "Where do you live?" And I and I and I was close to your block, so I said your building. So he dropped me off in front, and I had to take a cab all the way back downtown to my house. Oh, God.
Jerry: But the question is, are you still master of your domain?
Elaine: I'm queen of the castle.
