    About Time for a Chinese

JG what happened?

A place I was craving to come back in NYC was JG Melon. A friend of mine took me the first time I went to the Big Apple, we were there for a Genesis concert, staying in the upper east side, completely dazzle with the magic of the city, and we got this amazing burger in this restaurant that only takes cash, bib gourmand recognition, it was like a fairy tale, like a precious, Gollum finding the one ring, my precious?

I got back finally, I decided give it a go, and write about this amazing burger. Got to the place, exactly as I remembered, a little late dinner so it wasn’t too crowded, sat at a table, checked the menu and ordered a chilli con carne and my beloved dreamed bacon cheeseburger.

The chilli con carne was nice, excellent spicy kick, I dig in and quite soon it was gone. Then got my burger, yes, finally, it’s here, everything looks good, melted cheese checked, bacon checked, and… oh my god, meat overdone, they killed the patty, it was over well done, no juices, where is my medium rare juicy meat, overall it was a good flavour but not the one I was dreaming with, the cheese was melted covering the patty, nice crunchy bacon and still not good enough, not sure what happened here, did I put the bar too high? Flavour is good but not a great burger as I recall, it didn’t feel right. The chips were quite good, nice and crispy, and oddly round, nice touch.

Service was in a rush, everything was fast, too fast, just like they don’t care, probably being late night might have added to the situation, waiters wanting to finish their day, sadly quite bad, no consideration at all with the costumer.

A fallen hero I have to say.

So many expectations
My first time in NYC reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Muffin Tops” when George pretends to be a tourist to date a girl

Jerry: So you're pretending to be a tourist?
George: It's beautiful. She makes all the plans. I'm not from around here so it's okay if I'm stupid, and she knows I'm only in town visiting so there's no messy breakup
Jerry: How do you explain your apartment?
George: I got a hotel room
Jerry: you moved into a hotel?
George: Well I don't know anyone here Jerry. Where else am I going to stay?
