Road Trip: Take me to the Wine Cellar Please!

My friends gave two options for Sunday in Milano, the first one was driving to Maranello and seeing the Ferrari museum, the second one was going with a group of Italians near Pavia to a Vineyard and visit their cellars. Obviously as any amateur foodie the option was clear, I wanted to drink wine!

All roads lead to Rome
A day in the countryside, the vineyard we went was Azienda Agricola La Piotta, nearby Pavia in Moltalto Pavese, a nice small town, we explore the surroundings, got some roasted chestnuts, and headed to the place, the owners came to explain the how they operate and the extension of the vineyard and finally we went inside to try the different wines and eat some local food.

More nuts
You basically have two options, drink as much as you want with no food, only some salami and cheese as snack basically free of charge, or to pay 5 euros for also a plate of lentils and cotechino which is an Italian charcuterie similar to salami but needs to be cooked. It was so cheap we didn’t even think to order the food. We tried every bottle they had, Pinot Nero, Chardonnay, Barbera, Spumante. The wine was amazing and the food tasty and you can’t get it more authentic. This is why I love Italy.

Mind a bottle?
Wine reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Dinner Party”

Elaine: Maybe we should stop off on the way and get a bottle of wine or something
George: What for?
Elaine: These people invited us for dinner. We have to bring something
George: Why?
Elaine: Because it's rude, otherwise
George: You mean just going there because I'm invited, that's rude?
Elaine: Yeah
George: So you're telling me instead of being happy to see me they're going to be upset because I didn't bring anything. You see what I'm saying?
Jerry: The fabric of society is very complex George
George: I don't even drink wine. I drink Pepsi
Elaine: You can't bring Pepsi
George: Why not?
Elaine: Because we're adults?
George: You telling me that wine is better than Pepsi? Huh, no way wine is better than Pepsi
Jerry: I'm telling you George, I don't think we want to walk in there and put a big plastic jug of Pepsi on the table
George: I just don't like the ideas that every time there is a dinner invitation there's this annoying little chore that goes along with it
Jerry: You know, you're getting to be an annoying little chore yourself
