Coffee Enquiry XV: Kopapa - Let’s do Brunch in Covent Garden

There is nothing better than a lazy Sunday brunch. I love the ritual, waking up late, taking a magazine or a book, and finally heading to get some eggs and a nice macchiato at 2pm without feeling guilty. One of my favourite places to do all that is Providores therefore I really wanted to try their sister restaurant Kopapa. All day café, relax, a decent bar with stools and plenty of tables but no high communal table as in Marylebone. Located in the Seven Dials open seven days a week all days from breakfast to post theatre supper, serving the same Peter Gordon’s cuisine with a similar if not the same menu.

Kopapa
The place
Got to the place and already new what I was having the Turkish eggs. For me that is the best dish that Providores has on the menu and the best breakfast/brunch dish I have tried in London. Marisol went for the choriso hash with 2 fried eggs, rocket, shallots, and sriracha chilli sauce.

The greatest Turkish Eggs
Some Chorizo for the Hash
The Turkish eggs where spot on as usual, amazing flavour the yogurty poached eggs with the spicy kick of the hot chilli butter, unbelievable! I could eat those every weekend. Chorizo hash was nice I got a few bites, it was well prepared well, eggs perfectly cooked, nice flavours.

The Hash
Now let’s talk about the coffee. You can’t have brunch without having coffee, at least I can’t. So I went for not one but two of them. I got my macchiato as soon as I sat and before leaving a flat white.

Macchiato time
Monmouth tailored blend, I don’t recall liking that much the Monmouth beans. Kopapa's beans are roasted specially for them. All the beans sourced from Brazil, Guatemala, and Colombia. Really nice after taste of the coffee, no latte art for the macchiato but nicely done for the flat white, top marks for a really nice coffee.

Flat White
Espresso Machine: La Marzocco
Beans: Monmouth
Score: 4/5

Nice coffee, great brunch, and same quality as Providores.

Floor pattern
Eggs remind me the Seinfeld episode “The Stand-In”

George: So how were the eggs?
Daphne: Eggs are eggs
George: Eggs are eggs. That is very profound. By the same token you could say fish is fish. Ha ha ha, I don't think so
