I read this review about a nice sandwich in South Kensington and decided to give it a go. Raison d'Etre, a small student cafe, taken care by its owner Mathieu, a lawyer that got bored of the corporate environment and left everything behind to follow his passion the food. Fresh ingredients, fresh baked bread, nice simple straight forward flavours.

We got a little bit lost, looked at the menu, with different types of bread, including baguettes, focaccias, and paninis, and a bigger list of options to fill, Mathieu realised we were struggling and immediately came to the rescue explaining all the different options.
Counter and options |
After a while I went for the goat cheese, avocado, pesto, rocket, and balsamic syrup focaccia. The sandwich was great, one of the best ones I have had, the goat cheese with the avocado great flavour, nice touch from the balsamic, pretty good, and nice portion.
Foccacia time |
To end the breakfast I got a cappuccino, the beans he’s using are a blend between Brazil, Colombia, and Panama. Nice flavour, a bit mild the coffee, but creamy cappuccino.

Sandwiches remind me the Seinfeld episode “The Stall”
George: hey nice move today
Kramer: what?
George: horning on my rock climbing trip. It's just supposed to be me and Tony
Kramer: he asked me
George: you put him on the spot
Kramer: you know I think you are in love with him
George: what? that's ridiculous!
Kramer: no no no, I don't think so. You love him
George: you better be careful on those rocks tomorrow buddy. And you're not getting any sandwiches either
