A couple months back while back home, thanks to my family, I ended doing a coffee appreciation course. Basic things, how to make a perfect espresso, latte art, etc. The long story short I’m know really hooked with coffee, so decided to visit recommended places and blog about coffee.
Blame it on the coffee |
My first visit Kaffeine, independent Australian/New Zealand coffee shop, not surprisingly as the Australian coffee culture is huge. The man behind is Pete a Melbournian, who after researching for a cool coffee shop he decided to leave his job at Lord’s Cricket Ground and dedicated to his new venture.

The place |
The shop has a rustic approach, long counter, a couple tables with bar stools in front and some stools and tables at the end which are in fact empty boxes. They sell food, some baguettes and foccacias, and muffins, brownies, and other sweet treats. You can also have a guest coffee.

Got to the place with Armando, he ordered a macchiato and I went for the espresso, the coffee is strong, excellent aroma, a bit bitter with fruity notes at the end, pretty good, an espresso perfetto. I asked about the coffee, and the staff told me they are using the Red Brick seasonal blend, 80% Costa Rica and 20% Brazil. They give you a cascara at the end, which is the dried coffee cherries to clean your pallet after drinking your coffee, nothing like a nice cold highly caffeinated tea to end your experience.

Coffee reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Phone Message”
George: OK, so you remember I made the initial call Sunday, she doesn't call back. I call again Monday, I leave another message. I call Tuesday, I get the machine again, I know you're there, I don't know what your story is. Yesterday, I'm a volcano, I try one more call, the machine comes on, and fly like Mussolini from the balcony, where the hell do you get the nerve? You invite me up for coffee and then you don't call me back for four days? I don't like coffee, I don't have to come up. I'd like to get one more shot at the coffee just so I could spit it in your face
Jerry: You said that?
George: I lost it
