Burger Wars Episode LV: The Icelandic Burger [BurgeReview]

The new kid on the block in the London burger scene is Tommi’s Burger Joint. Ok, ok it's not so new, and everybody knows it's a chain from Iceland, founded by Tomas Tomasson, but I still have to say the place is brilliant. Simple décor, Spuntino's style, it has some Berlin vibe, wood panels, old brick walls, indie music out loud, cardboard signs, place is small and cosy, I went with Marisol and we just loved it.

The menu is simple 4 burgers, cooked on a charcoal grill, a regular one, cheese one, veggie one, and a steak one. Bacon, béarnaise, and fries as extras.

We got the cheeseburger special, the burger, fries, and soda for £9.40, and I couldn't resist the steak burger, with cheese and béarnaise sauce.

The verdict, they were excellent, both of them, but the quality and flavour of the steak one is much refine, has a American style or feeling, the meat was perfectly cooked, full of juices, the melted cheese and the béarnaise were great.

The damage, 14 quid for the steak with cheese and béarnaise, fries, and a coke.

The conclusion, great burger, nice clean flavours, simple, focus, a nice option in the area, it's nice to have a no fuss, fancy option around, a solid 9 in my scale for the Icelandic crew.

They moved location to 30 Thayer St, W1U 2PQ, also opened a new place in Chelsea 342 Kings Road SW3 5UR.

Iceland reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Robbery”

Elaine: It's time you got out a here anyway
George: Yeah, tell him, but quickly, I'm double parked here
Elaine: Listen, Jerry, this place is falling apart. You have no hot water, you can't have soft cheese
George: Let's not forget the radiator, the steam has been on here for ten years; no human can turn this off
Elaine: Jerry, come on, you're doing OK now, you should at least take a look at this place. You shouldn't have to live like this
Jerry: Like this? You just said, you wanted to live here
Elaine: Well, for me it's a step up. It's like moving from Iceland to Finland
