Our last breakfast in Napa was at the legendary Model Bakery, the place has been part of the valley for almost 90 years, the original location in Main street St Helena, still offering breads, pastries, coffee, and to complete the picture cakes, cookies, and sandwiches for breakfast. Karen Mitchel has owned the place for almost 30 years, and in 2008 she expanded to a second location in Oxbow Public Market in Napa.

Huge warehouse style building, did my queue and ordered the Chipotle sandwich, took a while to get the order, a bit disorganised, but finally got my egg, bacon, pepperjack cheese, avocado, tomato, and chipotle mayo on sourdough, it was really nice, the chipotle mayo with the melted cheese and the avocado spot on. Also tried a cheese croissant, quite nice, and a fresh batch.

In Model you will find simple but tasty food, a great quick breakfast before heading to the wineries.

Bakery reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Rye”
Frank: We got to stop off and pick up a marble rye from Schnitzer's
Estelle: It's out of our way. Why can't we pick up something at Lord's? It's right over here
Frank: No! We have to go to Schnitzer's! I'll show these people something about taste!
George: This is going to be fun
