One thing I was looking forward in Brisbane was bunch, but opposite to Melbourne there is no big brunchmania there. So this time in order to make it on time I had to wake up early during the weekends and get proper breakfast. I did a little research and below are my favourites places.
Underground, irreverent, alternative kind of place. Brew is a bit of DIY, service is limited, you get there order at the counter pay, and look for a table in this basement style place. They will bring you your order and then get your water that is nearby and a little bit further napkins.
I got a truffled mushroom poached egg with avocado. Quite nice, the mushroom drizzle with the truffle oil, isn’t that almost the same? Anyway. Melted cheese completely overpowered by the truffle flavour, poached egg perfectly cooked even it didn’t look like but it was a perfect nice running yolk.
For drink a flat white, nice and creamy, coffee not so strong.
Grungy and alternative nice place.

Eurovida
Eurovida is a nice place in Paddington, not so far from the antique area, perfect to recharge batteries from a long working week, a couple tables outside, fresh juices and hearty breakfast is their offer.
I got a fresh squeeze pineapple and mint juice, quite nice, good combination. A macchiato, quite strong, really nice after taste, some bitter notes just as I like, but surprisingly it was a bit watery, like drinking an Americano.
My breakfast a benedict poached egg with bacon, grilled sausages, and halloumi on the side. Quite nice, pretty good breakfast, no hollandaise sauce though. The bacon British style, quite meaty, a bit salty but nice. The sausage very nice, the egg was perfectly cooked, a lovely runny yolk.
Intrigued by the coffee I ordered a flat white, creamy, nice, but the same watery coffee, the beans they use are Espresso di Manfredi.
Great service and nice food, I would stay with the fresh juice instead their coffee.

The Chelsea Bistro is located at the heritage listed Barracks building in Petrie Terrace, the main door of Caxton Street. A perfect place for shopping, dinning, and cinema. The place a bistro with a modern cuisine.
I got an al-fresco table in the laneway and ordered crab and chive omelette with horseradish cream fraiche brioche soldiers. Absolutely fantastic, the eggs were puffy and perfectly cooked. Horseradish was brilliant, great flavours, the soldiers grilled with butter, golden and crisp, quite addictive the soldiers and horseradish. As a side a grilled cotechino sausage with black pudding. Saussage was nice, crunchy, and salty. The black pudding had a nice flavour but it was a bit dry.
Flat white, creamy but mild coffee, Merlo beans, first latte art I got.
Great place the food was spot on, a few misses but nothing to worry about.

The Gunshop Café
Hectic and noisy place, completely packed with high turnover of customers. Located in a heritage building in the west end Brisbane’s cultural side. The Gunshop Cafe has a simple dĂ©cor, bricked walls, old fans to keep punters refreshed during hot summers. Ingredients sourced from local markets, and several awards for their breakfast make them a busy venue over the weekend mornings.

Harveys Bar + Bistro
Chef PJ McMillan bistro in Fortitude Valley, Harveys it's a nice place in the middle of Brisbane’s cultural end. Down to earth clean geometric design, and al-fresco tables to enjoy the sunshine of Brisbane. Menu changing with seasons. One chef hat so my expectation was big for this breakfast.
Flat white, Merlo beans again, a bit mild not too strong, creamy, and stylish latte art. The breakfast a spiced mince meat tortilla and a poached egg. It was brilliant, a spicy nice punch of the minced meat with the beans seasoned perfect, the traditional grated cheddar, guacamole, and sour cream. Mexican style que viva Jalisco!
A great place, apparently McMillan got death treats when he announced they were moving the restaurant, the breakfast was amazing, best one so far.

Hamptons Home Living
The most bizarre of the breakfast places, Hamptons Home Living is a homewares store and a café a brilliant idea. Located in Paddington. Tables on the back terrace with nice views of Brisbane.
Missed breakfast time and as no brunch culture I had to choose from the lunch menu. Buttermilk fried chicken with Hampton’s slaw, smoked corned salsa, and chipotle sauce. A lovely lunch, not technically a breakfast but I wanted to keep it in this section. Chicken was crispy, perfectly cooked, the smoked corned salsa and chipotle sauce was great, the slaw was quite good.
Flat white nice and creamy, beans from St Ali, not a strong blend, La Marzocca espresso machine, and latte art. Also got a double espresso shake, I corroborated that the blend wasn’t strong, the milkshake was nice but too milky flavour.
Great service and nice view.

Great place in CBD, open space, plenty of tables but you don’t feel crowded. Good service, Aquila is open for breakfast and lunch Monday to Wednesdays, and Thursdays and Friday open till late and the crowd is looking this time for drinks.
I went for the Aquila breakfast, it was good, nice flavours, the ingredients were fresh. The eggs one was perfectly cooked the other one a bit overcooked, but too be honest it was so good I didn’t care.
Flat white, Lavanzza beans, a Wega espresso machine, and latte art. Nice coffee, strong, and came with a hazelnut waffle, quite nice.
Nice place for breakfast in CBD.
Another all day breakfast place in Paddington. Ruby Cafe breakfast, lunch, and coffee seven days a week. Small place with a view on the back, nice and relax.
I went for a bubble and squeak hash cakes, with poached eggs, wilted spinach, and a hollandaise sauce. Amazing, works perfect the wilted spinach with the squeak, and the benny eggs. Great breakfast. I had a mango and passion fruit smoothie, too milky, I wouldn’t use milk actually.
Flat white, Vittoria beans, finally a nice strong coffee.
Another nice breakfast place in Paddington.

Breakfast reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Subway”
Jerry: Ok! You realize of course, you're naked?
Naked man: Naked, dressed. I don't see any difference
Jerry: You ought to sit here. There is a difference
Naked man: You got something against naked body?
Jerry: I got something against yours. How about a couple of deep knee bends, maybe a squat thrust?
Naked man: Who's got time for squat thrusts?
Jerry: All right, how about skipping breakfast. I'm guessing you're not a half-grapefruit and black coffee guy
Naked man: I like a good breakfast
Jerry: I understand, I like good breakfast. Long as you don't wind up trapped in a room with bimbo broals and pigtails, been counseled by Dick Gregory
Naked man: I'm not ashamed of my body
Jerry: That's your problem, you should be
