American BBQ Smokehouse in London

The other day I went to a Chelsea’s match and decided to eat after the game. I have to tell you it’s not an easy task to find a decent place open that late in Fulham Broadway. I ended in Bodean’s, original American BBQ smokehouse. All meats slow cook to enhance flavours and keep their juices, with 4 branches in London to try the Kansas City BBQ style.

The place is a bit small and cosy, some booths, red light ambience, full of American memorabilia, and ESPN with American sports on the monitors. After a couple minutes and a beer in hand I went for the game day special 15 quid for their buffalo wings, a full rack of baby back ribs, chips, coleslaw, and a beer.

The wings had a nice flavour but were completely overcooked. The ribs were outstanding. Great flavour, nice seasoning, traditional American BBQ. I ate the full rack with a big smile on my face.

Chicken Wings and Beers

It has been really difficult to find a good place to eat chicken wings here in London. I have tried different places, from Big Easy, to Nando’s, also The Sussex pub, and even went to The Lexington for an all you can eat ribs and wings that in my opinion was quite disappointing, in conclusion no luck so far.

I got a tip to try the ones in Bodean’s, so the other day I was wandering in Notting Hill around Westbourne Grove and I bumped into the place by chance, so I decided to give it a go. I had the chance to try their chicken wings, ribs, and the famous burnt ends. Surprisingly the wings were good, however, I’m pretty sure there has to be a better place around town. The ribs were a little bit dry, and the burnt ends were quite good, all the mains came with chips and coleslaw, more like french fries which were quite bad, completely saggy.

So if you want to try a Kansas’ BBQ style, as they say smoke it slow and cook it low, from the oak burning smoke pit, or want to watch NBA, MLB and the World Cup go try Bodean’s, they even have an offer of combos for 10 quids. So from now on every time I want chicken wings and beers that’s going to be my choice until I find a better place.

I hope to find the Kenny Rogers Roasters with the gigantic red neon sign that makes Kramer convince Jerry to swap flats until Jerry discovers that Kramer is addicted to the restaurant as in “The Chicken Roaster” episode.

Seth: Jerry, I lied, I'm just the assistant manager.

Seth: Number sixty seven, family feast.

Newman: Number 67, right here, right here!

Jerry: Hello Newman.

Newman: Hello Jerry.

Seth: And don't forget your steamed broccoli.

Jerry: Hold it, Newman, you wouldn't eat broccoli if it was deep fried in chocolate sauce.

Newman: I love broccoli, it’s good for you.

Jerry: Really? Then maybe you'd like to have a piece?

Newman: Gladly.

Newman: Vile weed!

Jerry: It's Kramer isn't it? The greasy door knob the constant licking of the fingers, he's hooked to the chicken isn't he?

Newman: Yes, now please. Someone, honey mustard.
