The British Music Experience and Burger Wars Episode II Attack of the Kitchen

I finally went to the British Music Experience, I found a voucher online for their 1 year anniversary, so I only paid a quid to get in. I really enjoyed the time there, you can see all this information about the history of British music in the different edge zones, with memorabilia from different decades, play instruments in the Gibson interactive studio (definitely my favourite part), actually I didn't want to leave that area, you can play guitars, drums, basses, and pianos, just a great time. Also you can dance the decades, and see all the information you stored in your smarticket from your computer.

My best moment there: obviously the Gibson interactive studio, being able to play all those instruments just priceless.

Curious and exiting facts: Genesis doubles their concert appearance money overnight in 1973, Peter Gabriel impacted the audience and critics with his extravagant costumes (picture on the left, taken from the British Music Experience web site). Bohemian Rhapsody heralds the pop video age in 1975. Britain second pop invasion to America in 1985 by artists like Phil Collins, Dire Straits, Paul Young, Duran Duran, and Tears for Fears. Dire Straits set to be the new CD millionaires.

Finally the showcases: Amazing Sitar played by Justin Hayward from The Moody Blues (picture on the right, taken from the British Music Experience web site). The manuscript lyrics for Cream’s White Room. Jethro Tull’s lyrics for Locomotive Breath. John Lennon round glasses. Brian May red special guitar.

Second home by the sea:

Continuing with my search for the best burger here in London I went this time to Gourmet Burger Kitchen A.K.A. GBK (it’s all about the burger). Another chain, I know!!!! This time my partner in crime was Adrian, I was trying to convince him to go to another place, but he had this voucher so it was only 15 quids for two burgers, two drinks, and chips. My first impression a more complete list of options, 13 beef burgers, 5 chicken burgers, 5 vegetarian, 3 specialty (chorizo, mint lamb, and greek lamb), and 2 exclusive (buffalo, yes buffalo but not the Bob Marley’s soldier, and wild boar both from Laverstoke Park Farm), also you can add any extras to your choice, good dĆ©cor, the service was good, the burgers didn't take long to arrive.

I ordered a Pesterella beef burger (pesto and mozzarella) and added bacon, and Adrian ordered the classic blue cheese beef burger, two oreo milk shakes, and fries.

Pesterella Burger

The verdict, the burger again was ok, the meat was cooked medium, a decent size, good flavour combination, the milk shake a little bit watery, and the fries fat enough to be called chips, not too oily but definitely gummy not crunchy enough.

The damage, without taking in consideration the voucher we should have paid 16 pounds each. As soon as we paid they gave us a loyalty card, which allow to the bearer to change the card for a 2 for 1 burger offer (really good marketing strategy to make their clients to come back for more).

Conclusion, also not close enough to be crowned the best burger of London, in my humble opinion I will give them a 7 for the variety of choices that helped overcome the lack of crunchiness of the chips.

I cannot finish the post without a Seinfeld moment so considering I’m still in a burger mode I took this from “The Frogger” episode.

Elaine: Guess what I ate!
George: An ostrich burger?
Elaine: No, a $29,000 piece of cake. Peterman got it at the Duke and Duchess of Windsor auction. It's the most romantic thing I've ever eaten.
Jerry: How did it taste?
Elaine: A little stale

As I’m still in a British Rock state of mind, I found the original video of Genesis Home by the sea / Second home by the sea, this is one of my favourite songs.
