I’m a big fan of Borough Market, quality produce, nice vendors, and convenience location. I always try a different vendor and this time I had my eye on the duck confit sandwich.
Duck Calling |
Le Marche du Quartier is the vendor. Specialised in French produce, including foie gras, meats, and off course French cheese. They have been in the market since 1998. But my visit was looking into the show involving a huge paellera (big paella pan) full of shredded confit duck in order to sell Le Quack.
The Stall |
The sandwich is served in a ciabatta, sweet notes of Savora mustard, a bit of rocket, and a lot of the confit duck. The sandwich is nice, the confit has some fattiness from the duck meat and also the crispy burnt edges, but I found it a bit dry. I think is almost there just need some juices and a punch.
Le duck |
Another option on the market, you might disagree with me so give it a try if you’re tired of the Kappacasein or Brindisa sandwiches.
Final look at the duck confit sandwich |
Duck reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Couch”
Elaine: I heard Poppie's was good, let's go
Jerry: I'm not going there. Didn't he get busted by the Board of Health?
Kramer: That was in the past, Jerry. As it happens, New York Magazine just judged his kitchen to be one of the cleanest in the city. They got a duck there, you think you died and went to heaven
Elaine: Ooh! I love duck. Come on, come on!
Kramer: Yeah, but you got to order it two days in advance. You know, I'm going to call him, I'm going to order the duck for you
