Gelato time in Chiswick

That's like an ice cream man named Cone
Cosmo Kramer (Seinfeld episode “The Librarian”)

Chiswick high street has transformed wince we moved here. New cafes, restaurants, and also gelaterias. This is the case for Oddono’s Gelati a fresh and natural Italian gelato chain.

The place
They opened their first shop in South Kensington in 2004, offering Italian gelato with the homemade recipes from one of the owners’ nonna. Now they have 5 locations around London.

Gelato time
Great gelato, the Italian way, perfect for sunny days. So if it’s hot and you spot Oddono’s don’t hesitate to get your ice cream, in my case I went for a classic combination of chocolate and stracciatella.

Burger Wars Episode XC: Smokehouse in Chiswick [BurgeReview]

You know, just because a person's a smoker, that doesn't mean he's not a human being
Cosmo Kramer (Seinfeld episode “The Abstinence”)

I have said before that it is a bit of a challenge to find a decent bbq place in London. There are several but none hit all the marks. That was until I visited Smokehouse in Chiswick, a sister place of the original in Islington.

Just in case
I have been in two occasions already, and one of them was a feast, where they smoked, and slow cooked three types of meat, short rib, ox cheek, and Korean pulled pork. The feast was amazing, everything spot on, one of the best meals I have had.

Feast time
But now on to the burgers, they also have burgers a la carte, especially for lunch time. I went for the fried chicken burger with guacamole, chipotle, and fried egg, and my wife got the Cheese Hereford burger with a lovely melted comte.

Say cheese!
The verdict, both burgers were fantastic but if you’re a cheese aficionado you have to go with the cheesy one

The damage,  £15 for the burger with fries

The conclusion, amazing place, nice burgers, and great smoked meats, can’t recommend highly enough, top marks

Chiswick Fire Station Catastrophe

Hey, do you want to come down the fire station with me?
Cosmo Kramer (Seinfeld episode “The Secret Code”)

The other day we were wandering around Chiswick looking for a place to have lunch. We noticed the recently opened No. 197 Fire Station, and just the look of the place was attractive enough to take or full attention.

Loved the décor of the place, really inviting, nicely play with whites giving a clean look with contrasting black chairs and stools, garden/terrace to al fresco option.

Service quite slow, our waiter was missing in action on a place at only half capacity. Things started to get worst as we ordered a rotisserie chicken and Mussels Mariniere. Well about 30min later of ordering the manager came to let us know that they make a mistake in the kitchen on oversold mussels, so we had to quickly ordered something else.

Chicken
We ended with a decent chicken but you can have a similar one in Nando’s and an overcooked and quite average burger, probably quite close to one of the worst I have ever eaten.

Avoid at all cost

Lovely place but a complete train wreck with average food, at least the manager was decent enough giving us the burger free

European with Latin twist in Chiswick

It's Latin. I read it in some book. I don't know, I just wanted to say it out loud
Elaine Benes (Seinfeld episode “The Café”)

The other day we went we friends to eat around the area. After checking a couple places we decided to go to Quantus. Modern European cuisine with some Latin influences, neat and classic décor, friendly service, and relax environment.

Pork time
Ambitious menu, nice presentation, but they fall short to deliver to the expectation. Food was nice but missed the wow factor. My starter was fine, missed a bit on the execution of the poached egg, but got nice balance with truffle oil, asparagus and Parmesan. For main a classic schnitzel type of dish with a deep and rich sauce that was great at the beginning but got heavy to eat at the end.

Decent offer, menu changes frequently, food ok, and good service, worth a second try.
