Coffee Enquiry XLV: A Federation in Brixton

Don't you see how wrong that is? Where's your Christmas spirit? And eye for an eye!
George Costanza (Seinfeld episode “The Strike”)

I went the other day to Brixton and had the chance to do a pit stop and try a coffee in Federation Coffee.

The place is a typical antipodean coffee in the middle of Brixton Village Market. The offer coffee and some nibbles including Anzac biscuits, as it was Christmas I had to had a mince pie.

Flat White
Now to the coffee business, I got a flat white, their beans are from a special blend made for federation. Coffee was nice and sweet, and the extraction was made carefully with nice latte art. Really nice venue where you will find a relax place perfect for a cup of coffee.

Brixton Chicken Academy

Hey, stay away from the chicken. Bad, bad chicken, mess you up
Cosmo Kramer (Seinfeld episode “The Chicken Roaster”)

I love chicken! And believe it or not one of my guilty pleasures when in the USA is Hooters. So I couldn’t resist the opportunity to get some thighs and wings in my last visit to Brixton. No Hooters here in London here but we have our take without the voluptuous waitresses. The place no other than Wishbone, they have been around for a while. Irreverent style matching the Brixton scene, industrial décor, high wooden tables, uncomfortable stools, soul music loud and clear, and a menu based on chicken, thighs, wings, by pieces, and sandwiches.

The place
We went for a trio to try a good selection of the menu. Korean wings, Buffalo thighs, and a Korean sandwich.

Menu
The wings were nice, good spicy touch from the fermented chilli, double fried crispy, quite nice. The thighs were amazing, a perfect American Buffalo style, I started to have all the flashbacks from the past, blue cheese just perfect, definitely the highlight of the day. Finally the sandwich, again good flavours, nice balance, a touch of peanuts, a bit scarce on the chicken, I had to add some of my thighs to the sandwich to upgrade it.

Great option in the area, definitely the thighs are the way to go, at least for me
