Burger Wars Episode LXXV: The Soho System

Anyway, I'm a new man, and I'm looking towards the future. Clean, dirty, whatever
Jerry Seinfeld (Seinfeld episode “The Pothole”)

I saw Dirty Burger opened a new place in Vauxhall and decided to drop by. The place is owned by the Soho House group, the same ones of Pizza East, and Electric Diner. Their burger joint has now two locations, one in Kentish Town, and the other one in Vauxhall just a couple steps from the train exit in the arches. If industrial has a theme or style this is definitely it. The place will go perfectly with Berlin to be honest.

Smokin' Bacon
The verdict, a great burger, really nice flavours, specially the crispy bacon with the lovely melted mozzarella, amazing. Also the spicy mayo sauce was spot on.

The damage, 6.5 quid for the special burger.

The conclusion, a great! Great burger indeed. It was greasy, tasty, and messy. Straight forward traditional American style. Burger patty well done so no juices but the balance and the flavour compensated for that. A bit smaller, but I have the solution order two of them at once. Crinkle cut fries lovely, crispy and soft. The chocolate shake ok. I will give the Dirty team a 9 in my scale.

Gourmet Pizza in the East of London

I love pizza so as soon as I got back to London I decided to go to one of the recommended pizza place in the city. Pizza East opened to business in 2009, offering gourmet pizza with traditional and rustic ingredients in an industrial layout worthy of the east side of town.

The place

12 pizzas with interesting twists, I tried to keep my choice in the traditional range, I went for the salami, tomato, mozzarella, red onion and chilli pizza, but if you’re more adventurous you could try the rabbit one.

Menu

The pizza is good, but to be honest not spectacular, don't know I was expecting it would blow my mind with all that gourmet and fancy toppings and it didn't. So I would think twice about commuting to Shoreditch to have that pizza, probably next time will stay in a different borough and look for a local option.

The Gourmet Pizza

Pizza reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Nap” when Kramer is swimming in the east river, George is sleeping under his desk, and Elaine is obsessed with stuffed crust pizza.

Elaine: Gotta get some of that stuffed crust pizza. cheese crust pizza.
Hal: It's just more cheese.
Elaine: I'll tell you something. It'll be years before they find places to hide more cheese on a pizza.
