Bob Where is the Lobster [Closed]

I met this lawyer, we went out to dinner, I had the lobster bisque, we went back to my place, yada yada yada, I never heard from him again
Elaine Benes (Seinfeld episode “The Yada Yada”)

The other day I was in the mood for some Lobster so decided to give a visit to Bob’s & Co. The place is the winter home for Bob’s Lobster. Award winning lobster rolls now pop up on top of The Rising Sun near St Paul’s.

Bob's Lobster
We got a bit of everything clam chowder, scallops, fried oysters, and of course some Lobster rolls. All the food was great, the lobster rolls were outstanding with the lovely lobster and the soft bread toasted and impregnated with a nice butter. A bit expensive but highly recommended, they open Tuesday to Friday lunch and dinner.

Burger Wars Episode XLII: Ramsay’s Bread

Since I started the vendetta to find a decent burger in London I wanted to try Gordon Ramsay’s version. The place I was thinking was Maze Grill, but for one reason or another and despite it is on my original list I haven’t visited the place. But a week ago I went to his new venture Bread Street Kitchen. A large warehouse space with industrial décor for a relax dining experience.

Ramsay's new venture
The place
Went with a colleague, sat downstairs by the bar, quite quickly we were on to business. Tamarind chicken wings, crispy pig’s head, and the Bread Street short rib burger.

Bar
Downstairs
The wings were quite nice, good sweet and Asian flavours, the tamarind with spring onions and coriander gave a nice balance. The crispy pig’s head, nice battered, with a touch of breadcrumbs, the green chilli mayo was nice, I even used it to dip my chips.

Crispy pig's head
The Bread Street short rib burger comes with Monterrey Jack cheese, and a tomato ketchup.

Ramsay's BSK burger
The verdict, nice burger, thick patty, really thick, perfectly cooked, the tomato sauce with a nice sweet touch spread on the bun, the short rib flavour was great, the Jack was nice, melted covering the patty, not too overpowering, probably they could go for a stronger cheese as the meat flavour is quite strong. The bun was almost collapsing but held until the end despite the juices. Chips were nice, perfectly cooked crispy outside soft inside.

The damage, 15 quid for the burger, fries, and a coke

The conclusion, another great burger, really nice place, is good to see a relax but still quite nice and high standards Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant. The patty flavour was the lead actor of the play, stole the show. A strong 9 in my scale, this is a serious burger Mr Ramsay.

Bread reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Rye”

George: What is this? The marble rye?
Estelle: We forgot to bring it in
Frank: No, I brought it in. They never put it out
George: You stole the bread?
Frank: What do you mean stole? It's my bread. They didn't eat it. Why should I leave it there?
George: Because we brought it for them!
Frank: Apparently, it wasn't good enough for them to serve
Estelle: People take buses to get that rye
George: Maybe they forgot to put it out! Frank: Aw, they didn't forget to put it out! It's deliberate! Deliberate, I tell you!

Burger Wars Episode XXXVII: Oliver and Perry Lang

A new place I was looking  forward to going was Barbecoa, yes Jamie Oliver and Adam Perry Lang place. Simply a two in one, a butchery and a restaurant, simple cooking techniques, state of the art kitchen including robata grills, tandoor ovens, fire pits, and even a Texan smoker. Also having the butchery bellow the restaurant let them to have the whole animal instead of a selection of cuts making a more complete and exciting menu.

Snapshot from the Menu

The View

Got to the place with a couple colleagues, one of them from Houston so that’s what I call a tricky fellow to serve BBQ. Contemplate the menu for a couple minutes then decided to go for Pork Scratchings and chipotle sauce, the pit-smoked baby back ribs with coriander and chilli, and finally the Barbecoa burger.

The Burger

The burger comes with Westcombe cheddar, streaky bacon, sweet onions, and chips.

Close up

The verdict, good smoky flavour, but on the other hand they killed the patty, it was cooked medium to well done, so no juices at all which is unforgivable for me. Fries were good.

The damage, 16 quid for the burger

The conclusion, the burger is not bad but seriously a BBQ place that doesn’t cook their meats to order. The ribs were superb, really nice done, the pork scratchings quite good, my colleagues’ dishes were good according to them, I don’t understand why they don’t serve the burger medium rare, that can change the whole ball game. I will give them a 7 in my scale. Not sure if coming back, maybe for the ribs.

Barbecoa reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Wink”.

Holly: Jerry, I'm thrilled you like my mutton. I was afraid you only ate salad.
Jerry: Hey, salad's got nothing on this mutton!
Elaine: Thanks for mutton!

The Earl of St Paul's

Is exciting to find new places to have a quick lunch in the city. As Genesis says “it’s one o’clock and time for lunch, when the sun beats down and I lie on the bench, I can always hear them talk”. One of the new faces in Blackfriars is Earl of Sandwich. Their specialties hot sandwiches, but also salads complement the offer. 13 different sandwiches freshly made to order on an artisan loaf, and on the blue corner, representing the salads, 7 different options to help you ease your appetite.

Decor

The place

I got greedy and went for the Italian, a hot combination of salami, capicola, roasted ham, mortadella, mozzarella, and Roma tomatoes served with Zesty Italian dressing. My second choice was a Chicken Caesar Salad.

Hot to go

A beautiful Italian snack

Caesar Salad

The sandwich was quite good, good combinations, tasty dressing, and the fact that it was hot elevated it to a different level. The Caesar excellent, clean traditional flavours as you will expect. As lord Vader would say "The force is strong in this one".

An excellent option for a quick bite if you’re around the Cathedral.

Salad always remind me the Seinfeld episode “The Big Salad”.

George: You know, I think I could have played with dolls if there were dolls in the house. It seems like fun to me. It doesn't seem like a gender thing. I think I would like to play with dolls. What's so terrible?
Julie: Ha. So, George, I was talking to Elaine before.
George: A ha! We're just friends.
Julie: Yes, well anyway, she said something that was kind of intriguing.
George: Oh, share.
Julie: Well, when I came over to the table she mentioned something about how she better hurry up and leave or you'd make her buy lunch to make up for the one you bought yesterday.
George: Ha, ha ha! uh, I'm not following that.
Julie: Well, my question is, How could Elaine be under the impression that you bought the big salad, when I was the one who handed it to her?
George: Well, she probably just assumed.
Julie: Um, did she?
George: uh, wait a second. Are you suggesting that I went out of my way to tell Elaine that even though you handed her the big salad, that it came from me?
Julie: That's what I'm suggesting.
George: Well it was a big salad, and what I would like to know is, How does a person who has nothing to do with the big salad claim responsibility for that salad, and accept the thank you under false pretences, ah, ah?
Julie: George, all I did was hand someone a bag.

A little Grace in St Paul's

It’s always important to find a decent place to have a quick lunch or snack near your office. These days I’ve been working near St Paul’s Cathedral in Blackfriars. Good thing is that there are plenty of options over there, Fleet street is full of commerce, including sushi, burritos, pizza, and burger options. But it was in Creed lane where I found the jackpot, Grace a small corner bakery shop, with artisan sandwiches, salads, soups, and hot sandwiches as well.

Sausage roll

I have had pork sandwich and steak sandwich, excellent both of them, but in my last stop in the place, they had a burger, so I couldn’t miss the chance. Also a best seller is the sausage roll, this time I got the last one available. The burger is pretty straight forward, cheese and bacon, with rocket, tomato, ketchup, and mayo.

The Burger

The verdict, excellent as everything I have had before in the place, if you’re near the area it’s a must to go.

The damage, the burger is 6 pounds, no fries but you can add some crisps.

The conclusion, amazing... sadly they don’t have it regularly, so you have to keep going and asking if they have that day in the menu the burger. But don’t worry if they don’t because the other options won’t disappoint you. If I had to qualify them in my scale is definitely a solid 8.

The Burger

These sandwiches are so good that I can imagine George eating one of those in the episode “The Blood” where he wants to combine having sex and eat.

Jerry: Didn't go for it, huh?
George: No.
Jerry: So, she didn't appreciate the erotic qualities of the salted cured meats?
George: She tolerated the strawberries and the chocolate sauce, but eh, it's not a meal, you know? Food and sex, those are my two passions. It's only natural to combine them.
Jerry: Natural? Sex is about love between a man and a woman, not a man and a sandwich.
George: Jerry, I'm not suggesting getting rid of the girl. She's integral.
Jerry: Maybe instead of trying to satisfy two of your needs, how about satisfying one of somebody else's.
George: Hey, speaking of which, I found a great way to separate the skin from the top of the pudding without leaving any around the edges; exacto knife.
Jerry: I told you George, no more pudding. I'm starting a purification program. Keep all that kind of food away from me.
George: Well, I guess these would be out of the question.
Jerry: What the hell is that?
George: Pudding skin singles.
